PA Billionaire Is Among World’s Richest People: Bloomberg

The Bloomberg Billionaire Index tracks the world’s 500 richest people on an almost continuous basis, with the figures getting updated after the close of every trading day at the New York Stock Exchange.

Jeff Bezos, the founder and CEO of Amazon, maintains his spot as the richest person in the world. Overall, 176 of the 500 richest individuals are American, and United States citizens also make up seven of the top 10 richest people globally.

In Pennsylvania, one person is among the 500 richest people in the world.

Here is the billionaire from our state that is on the elite list:

Mary Malone

• Total Net Worth: $4.68 billion
• Industry: Campbell Soup
• Age: 69

Malone's wealth could buy 3.79 million troy ounces of gold or 87.9 million barrels of crude oil.

According to Bloomberg, the majority of Malone's fortune comes from her stake in Campbell Soup, the company founded by her grandfather, John T. Dorrance. She's the company's largest shareholder with an 18% stake.

Malone lives in Coatesville and has two children with her husband, Stuart H. Malone.
