Love Your Library this February
February is love your library month. Warminster Library has a lot of reasons to celebrate.

February is Love Your Library month. For those who use the Library on a regular basis, you already love us, and we love you right back. But do you share your love of the Library with others?
I was talking with one of our regular patrons the other day, someone who is in multiple times a week. She and her family check out books and DVDs, but they also participate in our programs and give backs. So when I asked if she shared her love of libraries, I wasn’t surprised when she said she does.
Not 15 minutes later, I was talking with another of our regulars, someone who is in pretty much every day. When I asked the same question, I got a totally different answer: he doesn’t talk about the library.

I get it. I mean, I don’t wax poetic about the place I get my dog food (well, I do. Sometimes. They have ROCKIN’ customer service). Or the food store. These places are such a fundamental part of my life that I sometimes forget that others don’t have the same fundamentals. (Side note: I have 3 dogs; purchasing dog food is a weekly, sometimes more often, thing for me.)
But I should wax poetic about those places. We should celebrate and share the parts of our lives that are so fundamental, that we love so much, that give us so much, with those around us. Especially the Library, which, while not nutritionally complete for my dogs, satisfies and fulfills so many other parts of our lives.

Like did you know we have passes to places like Fonthill Castle & the Mercer Museum, the Wings of Freedom Aviation Museum, and other smaller, local attractions that are worth exploring? Like did you know we offer DIY programs for kids, teens and adults? Like did you know that we run movies every week – often just out of the theatres? And if you did know this, whom did you tell today?
Those of us of a certain age will remember the TV commercials for a shampoo that “told one person and they told one person…” until the world was using that shampoo. In 2019, more people used the library than went to the movies. If you share your love of the library with even one person who then shares it with another, we can continue this trend. Not only will you get to wax poetic about a place you love, a place that is fundamental to your life, you’ll share that love with someone else.
And we all could use a little more love.
