Penn State Head Coach Makes Helicopter Stop in Bucks

High school football players at Council Rock North had a special visitor, who arrived via helicopter Friday night.

Penn State University’s Head Coach James Franklin stopped in for the school’s game against Central Bucks West, the Newtown Fire Association announced on Facebook.

The Patriot-News, a Harrisburg-based newspaper, reported that Council Rock North was one of three schools the head coach visited on Friday night. According to that report, Franklin was in Newtown to check out North’s junior quarterback Brandon Mcilwain.

He also flew to Nazareth High School and Monsignor Bonner High School in Drexell Hill to watch part of a game against Archbishop Wood, according to the Patriot-News.

Franklin, who is active on Twitter, did not post anything directly indicating his visit to Newtown. However, a post Friday night read: “Really cool traveling around the region representing PSU! People are so proud of our school & all the wonderful things our players are doing.”

Franklin is a Neshaminy High graduate who is in his first season as football coach for Penn State.
