Warminster Flipped For Biden In 2020 Election

More voters in the township had supported President Donald Trump, a Republican, over Democrat Hillary Clinton in 2016.

WARMINSTER, PA — A majority of voters in Warminster Township supported Democratic candidate Joe Biden in 2020, a switch from four years ago, when the township favored Republican President Donald Trump.

Unofficial results posted by Bucks County on Monday also showed that thousands more Warminster residents voted than in the 2016 election.

In the Nov. 3 election, Biden received 10,059 votes in Warminster, compared to 9,761 for Trump. In 2016, Trump had defeated Democrat Hillary Clinton in Warminster by a vote of 8,705 to 8,234.

That's a 298-vote advantage for Biden this year, compared to a 471-vote advantage for Trump in 2016. In all, 2,881 more people voted in Warminster in 2020 than in 2016.

Trump, who has lost Pennsylvania according to unofficial results, won 27 of Bucks County's 54 municipalities in 2020. In 2016, he won 34. Eight municipalities in Bucks County flipped from red to blue in the most recent election, while just one — Dublin Borough — went from blue to red, uncertified results show.

President-elect Joe Biden beat Trump by more than 16,000 votes in Bucks County, according to the uncertified results. In 2016, Clinton won the county but by a more narrow margin of approximately 2,700 votes.

The presidential election is the latest sign of a shifting political landscape in Warminster Township.

Last year, Democrats took control of the Warminster Board of Supervisors after defeating Republican candidates, including one incumbent, for two open seats on the board.

The other municipalities in Bucks County that flipped from red to blue in 2020 are Buckingham Township, New Britain Township, Perkasie Borough, Plumstead Township, Sellersville Borough, Upper Makefield Township and Warrington Township.

Biden on Saturday was projected by major media networks to win the race. Trump has not yet conceded. Biden beat Trump by more than 16,000 votes in Bucks County, according to the uncertified results. In 2016, Clinton won the county but by a more narrow margin of approximately 2,700 votes.
