Chesco's Positivity Rate Drops Below 1 Percent

CHESTER COUNTY, PA — State Department of Health COVID-19 measures show coronavirus activity plummeting in Chester County in the most recent week's data, with only 37 new cases reported in the county.

In the week ended June 11, Chester County had 36 fewer new COVID-19 cases than in the previous seven-day period, and its incidence rate halved. The incidence rate had been 13.9 in the week ended June 3, but by June 11, the week's incidence rate was down to 7.0 per 100,00o residents in Chester County, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Positivity rate measures the percentage of tests coming up positive among total tests given. That number is down to 0.8 percent for the week ended June 11. It had been 1.9 percent in the week ended June 3.

Hospitalizations for COVID-19 also fell, from 15.9 to 12.4 on average daily, from the week ended June 3 to the week ended June 11.

Chester County Health Officials announced last week that 83 percent of all eligible Chester County residents (age 12 and above) are partially or fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

As of June 14, Chester County Health Department reported 813 people have died of COVID-19 in Chester County.
