Chester County Hospital Named Among Newsweek's Best

WEST CHESTER, PA — Chester County Hospital has been named to Newsweek’s World’s Best Hospitals for the second year in a row. The hospital is ranked as the 85th best hospital in America and the fifth-best hospital in Pennsylvania.

This is the second consecutive designation from the organization, making Chester County Hospital (CCH) the highest-ranked community-based hospital in Pennsylvania two years running.

Newsweek partnered with Statista Inc., a global data research firm, to grade hospitals worldwide on three main data sources — hospital recommendations from peers, patient experience and medical key performance indicators (KPIs).

Peer recommendations were sourced via an international online survey that polled more than 74,000 health care professionals. Patients worldwide filled out surveys measuring their satisfaction with the hospitals in which they received care. The KPIs measured included patient safety, hygiene measures, and quality of treatment.

In addition to Chester County Hospital, other Penn Medicine hospitals also netted honors. The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania — Penn Presbyterian was ranked first in the State and sixteenth in America and performed “above average” in infection prevention measures; Lancaster General Health was ranked ninth in the state and was No. 149 in America and performed “above average” in infection prevention measures.

Founded in 1892 as the county’s first hospital, the non-profit Chester County Hospital has grown into a 248-bed acute-care inpatient facility. It has outpatient services in Exton, West Goshen, New Garden, West Grove, Jennersville, and Kennett Square.

In 2013, Chester County Hospital became part of Penn Medicine, which is one of the world's leading academic medical centers, dedicated to medical education, biomedical research, and excellent patient care.
