​ Dr. Joseph MacNamara Named New Asst. Principal of Radnor HS

Radnor High's new assistant principal, Joseph MacNamara, has worked in special education, guidance, and school discipline.

RADNOR TOWNSHIP, PA — Radnor Township High School has a new assistant principal who comes to the administrative role from Coatesville School District with post-graduate education from Cabrini and Immaculata universities.

At a special board meeting in August, the Radnor Township School District Board of School Directors appointed Dr. Joseph "Mac" MacNamara as Assistant Principal of Radnor High School

Dr. MacNamara replaces former RHS Assistant Principal Brett Thomas, who has transitioned to Assistant Principal of Wayne Elementary School.

"We are thrilled that Dr. MacNamara is joining us," said District Superintendent Dr. Ken Batchelor "(We had) a strong candidate pool and I want to thank (RHS Principal) Mrs. Kevgas for all that she did to find what we believe is a really wonderful fit for the high school. We are absolutely thrilled we have his skill set...with us here in Radnor."

MacNamara joins RTSD from Coatesville Area School District, where he served as Assistant Principal of Coatesville Area Intermediate High School since 2013. In this role, he was responsible for student discipline; served as Local Education Agency (LEA) representative to students receiving special education and gifted services; observed and evaluated teachers in multiple content areas including guidance and support staff; monitored and reported progress on the ATSI plan; developed the master schedule; managed the budget for Math, Music and Family Consumer Science Departments; and updated emergency procedure plan and operations annually.

He also served as Safe Schools Program administrator, organizer and lead on the Equity Team, participant on the Student Assistance Program (SAP) team and mentor to new administrators.
Before transitioning into an administrative role, Dr. MacNamara was a middle and high school social studies teacher.

MacNamara holds a bachelor's degree in Education from Millersville University, a master's degree in Education and principal certification from Cabrini University and a doctoral degree in Education from Immaculata University.

He joins principal PT Kevgas, assistant principals Ryan Buterbaugh and Keziah La Torre, and athletic director Michael Friel on the RHS administrative team.
