From cooling stations to senior centers and libraries, here's are resources to help stay cool in Chester County during the heat wave.

CHESTER COUNTY, PA — With temperatures soaring into the 90s and possibly even over 100 degrees over the next few days, it's important to make sure you find a way to stay cool while you're out and about.

Chester County has issued a Code Red warning, meaning county agencies are working together to help keep residents safe.

A cooling station has been set up at the New Garden Township building, and is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday and Friday. If you need transportation there, call 610-268-2915.

  • Drink plenty of non-alcoholic, non-caffeinated fluids.
  • Wear lightweight, light-colored, loose-fitting clothing.
  • If at all possible, try to get outdoor work completed during the morning to avoid the warmest part of the day
  • Keep windows and interior doors open when running a fan at home.
  • Keep cool by seeking an air-conditioned building if available, if not, seek rest in the shade.
  • Most of the Senior Adult Activity Centers (SAACs) are air-conditioned, as are malls and libraries
