In Kennett Square 10 Percent Of Residents Have Had COVID-19
Kennett Square Borough is the first municipality in Chester County to have had 10 percent of its residents test positive for COVID-19.

KENNETT SQUARE BOROUGH, PA — As the coronavirus pandemic lingers, COVID-19 cases falling and spiking amid a vaccination rollout, for the first time a Chester County municipality has seen more than 10 percent of its population having tested positive for the illness.
Kennett Square Borough in southeastern Chester County reported 623 cases of COVID-19 across the pandemic, a number representing 10.05 percent of the borough's population. The borough, which sits within Kennett Township on the Delaware state border, has seen six deaths from COVID-19, according to the Chester County Health Department's reporting dashboard.
Nearing the 10 percent of population mark is Avondale Borough, with 9.46 percent of its population having reported a positive COVID-19 test, and three deaths reported amid the 133 cases, according to the health department's report.

London Grove Township has had the next highest percentage of its population positive for COVID-19, at 8.8 percent. Of its 777 reported COVID-19 cases, London Grove Township has seen 19 deaths since the pandemic began.
West Grove Borough has reported 8.75 percent of its population positive for COVID-19 across the pandemic, meaning 249 people there tested positive. Three have died in West Grove, according to the county health department.

In Oxford Borough, 30 have died of COVID-19 and 455 persons representing 8.25 percent of the population have tested positive for it across the pandemic.
The lowest percentages of COVID-19 positives are in central Chester County. Modena Borough has had 2.03 percent of its population infected and one death. In West Marlborough Township, 2.58 percent of residents have tested positive for COVID-19 and no one has died from it, the Chester County Health Department reports.
Across Chester County, there have been 32,181 positive COVID-19 tests reported and 196,651 tests given that had negative results. The recovery rate from COVID-19 in Chester County is 89.26 percent, according to the Chester County Health Department. In the department's latest update, 749 had died of COVID-19 here. The U.S. Census Bureau for 2019 estimated Chester County's population at just under 525,000.
After two months of COVID-19 metrics falling in Chesco and nearby counties, the last three weeks saw a turnaround in new cases and other measures, with a spike reported by the Pennsylvania Department of Health for the week ended April 2. The county health department, pharmacies, and other providers are vaccinating across the county; the county reports 83,802 persons here have had at least a first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine as of Friday, and 76,879 are fully vaccinated. Those numbers represent all vaccine providers.
The county health department reported on April 1 that it has request 144,810 vaccine doses from the state but has received 78,720 doses.
