Favorite Type of Cake to Make: "I like doing drawings out of icings and fun ones that are different but cute that also involve caricatures. We recently just did this really cute farm-theme cake that I really liked making."

Least Favorite Type of Cake to Make: "Wedding cakes—just because of the anxiety of weddings and how stressed the brides are about having the perfect wedding cake."

How did you get into the business? 

"It just fell into my lap. I was 17 when I used to work at Giant and they needed help in the bakery one day. I met Maryellen (owner of Cakes and Candies by Maryellen) while I worked there—she was there buying supplies—who kind of got me started working with her."

What's the best part of your job?

"I've never been an office person and his job gives me the freedom of creative rights to things and not a structured job."
