Snow Is Coming To West Chester: What To Know

Will a snow emergency be declared, and what does it mean for residents? Also, information on parking, closures, and other snow regulations.

WEST CHESTER, PA — A significant snowstorm is expected to hit he Delaware Valley Wednesday night into Thursday morning, with snowfall totals ranging from 3-4 inches across Chester County, and up to 7 inches in Philadelphia and Montgomery County. Although a snow emergency has not yet been declared for the borough of West Chester, there are still several snow policies of which borough residents should be aware.

On certain blocks, parking is restricted automatically once snowfall is greater than four inches. Those blocks include:

  • North Church St. - Between Biddle and Virginia Ave
  • North Walnut St. - Between Evans St and Marshall St.
  • West Miner St. - Between Church St and Wayne St.
  • South Walnut St. - Between Nields St. and Union St.

If a snow emergency is declared, cars must be removed from roads to allow plows to come through. Parking is available for free during a snow emergency at the following locations:

  • The Bicentennial Garage: 20 S. High Street
  • The Sharpless Street Garage
  • The Nields Street Garage
  • The Matlack Street Garage
  • The Chestnut Street Garage: Chestnut and Walnut Streets

Police are also warning residents not to reserve parking spaces using chairs, cones, or other items. It is illegal, and officers will cite residents.

It is illegal to deposit snow from sidewalks into the street, officials added.
