Tornado Warning In Chester County (EXPIRED)

Breaking: The region-wide tornado watch was upgraded to a tornado warning in Chester County Tuesday evening. Residents should seek shelter.

CHESTER COUNTY, PA — The regionwide tornado watch was upgraded to a tornado warning in Chester County Tuesday evening, the National Weather Service said. The powerful storm left a some significant damage in its wake in parts of both Berks and Chester counties.

The warning was issued at 6:09 p.m. and expired at 6:45 p.m.

A severe thunderstorm "capable of producing a tornado" was located by forecasters near Coatesville at around 6:08 p.m., NWS said.

There were reports of roofs of homes being ripped off in Caernarvon Township in Berks County, with debris scattered around local neighborhoods. It has not yet been confirmed if a tornado actually touched down Tuesday night.

Residents were told to expect quarter-size hail in the central part of the county.

Impacted areas include West Chester, Coatesville, Downingtown, Glenmoore, Chester Springs, Lionville, Marshallton, Lionville-Marchwood, Paoli, West Goshen, Malvern, South Coatesville, Modena, Exton, and Thorndale.

During a tornado warning, experts recommend moving to a basement or interior room of a building, or getting ot the lowest floor possible.
