Tornado Warning Issued In Chester County (EXPIRED)

Breaking: A tornado warning was issued for parts of Chester County late Thursday night.

CHESTER COUNTY, PA — A tornado warning was issued for parts of Chester County late Thursday night, the National Weather Service said. The warning, issued at 11 p.m., expired at 11:30 p.m.

A severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was seen near New Holland and moving southeast at around 40 miles per hour at around 11 p.m., officials said.

By 11:18 p.m., it was near Glenmoore, about 11 miles northwest of West Chester, moving east at 35 miles per hour.

A severe thunderstorm warning for the region remains in effect through midnight.

Residents in Coatesville, Downingtown, Honey Brook, Lionville, Marshallton, Glenmoore, Lionville-Marchwood, South Coatesville, Modena, Exton, and Thorndale were told to seek shelter.

During a tornado, it's important to avoid windows, and move to a basement or an interior room, or the lowest floor of a sturdy building, if possible.
