Lower Makefield Police Log: Unemployment, Credit Fraud Rampant

Between July 1 and July 8, police responded to incidents including drug possession and fraudulent charges.

LOWER MAKEFIELD, PA — The Lower Makefield Township Police Department received reports of 11 instances of fraud to obtain unemployment benefits between July 1 and Thursday. Additionally, police responded to unauthorized PayPal charges and instances of drug possession.

10:07 a.m. — Someone at the 100 block of Tower Circle reported an unauthorized charge of $2,400.00 on their PayPal account.

11:03 a.m. — Someone at the 400 block of Sweetbriar Court reported that unknown person(s) applied for unemployment benefits in their name.

12:15 p.m. — Someone reported from Pevsner Road that unknown person(s) had applied for unemployment benefits in their name.

1:16 p.m. — Someone at the 900 block of Roelofs Court reported an unauthorized use of a credit card in the amount of $749.42.

2:16 p.m. — Someone reported from the 1700 block of Georgian Court that unknown person(s) applied for unemployment benefits in their name.

Friday, July 2

4:56 p.m. — Someone reported theft of a bicycle from the canal path at Black Rock Road.

Saturday, July 3

12:38 a.m. — Police were investigating a parked, occupied vehicle running in the roadway on W. Ferry Road. Further investigation led to the 19-year-old male passenger from Morrisville being cited for Underage Drinking.

Tuesday, July 6

8:29 a.m. — Someone at the 5500 block of Spruce Mill Drive reported that unknown person(s) applied for unemployment benefits in their name.

1:52 p.m. — Someone at the 600 block of Kings Road reported that unknown person(s) applied for unemployment benefits in their name.

Wednesday, July 7

9:36 a.m. — Someone at the 1900 block of Polo Run Drive reported that unknown person(s) applied for unemployment benefits in their name.

10:01 a.m. — Someone at the 300 block of Tall Meadow Lane reported that unknown person(s) applied for unemployment benefits in their name.

10:18 a.m. — Someone at the 1200 block of Clearview Drive reported that unknown person(s) applied for unemployment benefits in their name.

11:16 a.m. — Someone reported from the 2000 block of Leedoms Drive that unknown person(s) applied for unemployment benefits in their name.

12 p.m. — Someone at the 2000 block of Makefield Road reported unknown person(s) used their information to obtain an EZ Pass.

3:26 p.m. — Someone at the 1200 block of Fountain Road reported that unknown person(s) applied for unemployment benefits in their name.

4:45 p.m. — Someone reported from the 1300 block of Apple Blossom Drive that unknown person(s) had opened two lines of credit in their name.

Thursday, July 8

1:23 p.m. — Someone at the 100 block of Glen Valley Road reported accepting a position with what turned out to be a fictitious company. Victim lost $1,000 after cashing and distributing overpayment checks.

4 p.m. — Someone at the 900 block of Baron Drive reported unknown person(s) applied for unemployment benefits in their name.

5:33 p.m. — Someone at the 1400 block of Overlook Road reported unknown person(s) opened an AT&T account in their name.

9:54 p.m. — Police on patrol stopped a vehicle for violations at Oxford Valley Road and Route 1. Further investigation revealed the 29-year-old male driver from Levittown was wanted out of Bucks County and the 33-year-old male passenger from Langhorne was in possession of multiple bundles of heroin, Suboxone, Xanax and drug paraphernalia. The men were taken into police custody.
