Yardley Voter Guide 2020: What You Need To Know

YARDLEY, PA — The historic 2020 general election already is under way in Yardley and the rest of Bucks County, where tens of thousands of voters have already cast their ballots. With the coronavirus outbreak still on the minds of many, it's an election like no other, with a record number of mail-in ballots being processed, mailed out and returned in Bucks.

But many, as is tradition, will still go to the polls in person on Tuesday, Nov. 3 in the Yardley area.

Here's a look at what will be on the ballot in the Yardley area:

• President. At the top of the ballot will, of course, be the race between Republican President Donald Trump and Democratic former Vice President Joe Biden. Pennsylvania, as usual, is considered a swing state in the presidential election. Bucks County went for Democrat Hillary Clinton in 2016, in an election in which Trump narrowly won Pennsylvania by a mere 44,000 votes. Polls have showed Biden ahead in the state, but a recent one had Trump narrowing the gap.

• U.S. House. Yardley is part of Pennsylvania's 1st Congressional District, where incumbent Republican Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick faces Democratic nominee Christina Finello. It is one of six districts in the nation where a Republican represents an area that Clinton carried in the 2016 election. As such, it has been watched closely by political pundits nationwide.
• State House. In the 31st District, which runs from Yardley to Newtown, incumbent Democratic state Rep. Perry Warren is being challenged by Republican Charlie Adcock. Click the links on their names for a look at Patch profiles of the two candidates.
• State Races. In statewide races, incumbent Democratic Attorney General Josh Shapiro is being challenged by Republican Heather Heidelbaugh, a Pittsburgh attorney, Green Party candidate Richard Weiss, and Libertarian Daniel Wassmer. For auditor general, Democrat Nina Ahmad faces Republican Timothy DeFoor, Green Olivia Faison, and Libertarian Jennifer Moore. For state treasurer, Democrat Joe Torsella will face Republican Stacy Garrity, Green Timothy Runkle, and Libertarian Joe Soloski.

Polling Places

In Yardley, voters cast their ballots at the Yardley-Makefield Fire Co. at 105 S. Main St. There are multiple polling places in Lower Makefield and Morrisville. Voting Hours

Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. in Pennsylvania. Health precautions for coronavirus, including distancing, hand sanitizer and plexiglass shields will be in place. Voters will be required to wear masks.

Voting By Mail

Pennsylvania voters may request a mail-in or absentee ballot through Oct. 27. Votes returned by mail will be counted if they are postmarked by Election Day and received by Bucks County by Friday, Nov. 6. Click here to request a mail-in ballot in Bucks County.
