5K To Close One Lane On Mount Hope Bridge Saturday Morning

A 5K is set for Saturday morning over the bridge, and one lane will be closed. The traffic delays are expected from 7:30 to 8 a.m.

BRISTOL, RI—A 5K is set for Saturday morning over the bridge, and one lane, the northbound lane, will be closed, the state Turnpike and Bridge Authority said. This means the runners and walkers will use the closed lane, while the open lane will be used for both northbound and southbound traffic in an alternating pattern. Delays are expected from 7:30 to 8 a.m.

Police will be at the bridge to direct the traffic, RITBA said. The bridge authority is hosting the event, the Century 21 Topsail Realty Mount Hope Bridge 5k.

"The race will provide runners and walkers the unique opportunity of crossing Mount Hope Bay by foot on the historic Mount Hope Bridge," RITBA said in a press release. "The race is expected to have 850 participants and 100% of net proceeds will benefit the Bristol Rotary Club and their partner charities."
