Bristol Artist To Exhibit At Wickford Art Association
Kendra Bidwell Ferreira is among the artists who will be included in the new exhibit, 19 on Paper.

BRISTOL, RI—Kendra Bidwell Ferreira, of Bristol, is among the artists who will be included in the new exhibit, 19 on Paper. The show is presented by the Wickford Art Association. The opening reception, which is free, is set for 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 14 at the gallery, 36 Beach St., North Kingstown. The work will be on display from Jan. 12 to Feb. 4.
The name '19 on Paper' refers to a 1986 call for Rhode Island artists working on paper. According to Judy Salvadore, gallery director, "in the spring of 1986, two artists decided to form a group whose purpose was 'to provide a cohesive structure for the presentation of works on paper by Rhode Island artists.' When nineteen professional exhibiting artists responded to the call for colleagues, the name of the group became '19 on Paper.'"
The group has reached out to include artists outside the Ocean State. But the number of members has hovered around 19, more or less, all these years. Their medium may be painting, collage, photography, sculpture , for example, but they share a mission: "to promote an appreciation of art created on or with paper through exhibitions and portfolios and to provide for sharing, networking, and professional growth among its members." And most have exhibited in New England. Several have exhibited in galleries and museums overseas.
