Bristol Town Beach Closed To Swimming

Both Bristol Town Beach and Dyer Woods Campground in Foster have unsafe levels of bacteria in the water.

BRISTOL, RI — Just hours after Newport's Gooseberry Beach was reopened to the public, another Rhode Island beach is closed for high bacteria levels. On Thursday evening, the Rhode Island Department of Health announced the Bristol Town Beach has unsafe levels of bacteria in the water.

At the same time, the department recommended closing Dyer Woods Campground in Foster to swimming as well.

Surfer's End at Sachuset Beach in Middletown, Camp Grosvenor in Saunderstown and the Kent County YMCA Upper and Lower Ponds round out the list ofcurrent beach closures in the state.
