Dr. Jonathan Brice has served in school districts in Maryland, Florida and Delaware and has more than 25 years of experience.

BRISTOL-WARREN, RI — The Bristol-Warren School District has a new man in charge. On Monday night, the School Committee announced the appointment of an Interim Superintendent, Dr. Jonathan Brice.

"I am humbled by the opportunity to serve the students, staff, and community of the Bristol Warren Regional School District," Brice said in a statement. "My initial focus will be on listening and learning about the BWRSD, and collaborating and identifying measurable outcomes for the 2019-2020 school year. Thank you to the School Committee for your confidence and I look forward to meeting with the Bristol Warren Regional School Community on July 22, 2019."

Brice has 26 years of experience in education, working in major school districts in Maryland, Delaware and Florida and serving as the Deputy Assistant Secretary at the U.S. Department of Education. He is also the founder of a non-profit organization to help children achieve upward mobility and has been a consultant for the Southern Poverty Law Center and other education organizations.

Dr. Brice's appointment comes following the resignation of Superintendent Mario Andrade in late June. His last day was July 1. The School Committee said Andrade's resignation was the "best path forward" for the district following months of discussion between the committee and the superintendent.
