Bristol's 2021 Fourth Of July Photo Contest Underway

Bristol residents can drop off their submissions for this year's contest at Rogers Free Library until May 18.

BRISTOL, RI — Bristol's 2021 Fourth of July photo contest is underway. Residents can drop off their submissions for the contest at Rogers Free Library through May 18.

The contest is open to all residents, except for professional photographers and members of the Fourth of July committee. Entries must be an unmounted 8 x 10 inch print, and can be black and white, sepia or color. Submissions should include the photographer's name, address, phone number, title of the piece and the category, along with as much information as possible about how the art was created, such as lenses used, software used for editing and more.

There are six categories:

  • Bristol (landmarks, architecture, artifacts, nautical, etc.)
  • Creative (black and white, sepia, colorized, etc.)
  • Celebrations
  • Nature
  • Patriotic
  • People

Each resident can submit up to one photo, per category. All submissions must be received by the library by closing on May 18. Photos do not need to relate to the Fourth of July to qualify. Photos that do not meet all the requirements will be disqualified.

The contest will be judged by professional photographers. Judges might move a submission to another category, if they choose.

Ribbons will be awarded for first, second and third place in each category, with one overall best of show award. Winners will be notified by phone no later than May 29.

Winning photos will be displayed at the library throughout the summer. Selected non-winning photos will also be displayed.
