Bristol-Warren Weekend: Sale at Blithewold, Bike Run for Tim

What are you doing this weekend in Bristol and Warren? 

The forecast for Sept. 13 to 15 calls for sun with temps in the 70s on Friday and Saturday with rain expected Sunday — so get out and enjoy some of these great events.

Friday night at 7:30 p.m., the RWU freshmen perform selections from Christopher Durang's one-act plays. Also Saturday night, Sept. 21 at 7:30 p.m.

Admission $4 adults, $2 kids and seniors.

On Saturday, Blithewold Mansions, Gardens, and Arboretum opens on Saturday, Sept. 21, for the Blithewold Furniture Sale scheduled for 9 a.m. to noon. These are undocumented pieces, many of which require upholstery and other repairs — which means you'll get a great bargain.

Sale prices posted until 11 a.m., after that, it's best offer.

Also on Saturday, George Hail Library in Warren hosts its Friends of the Library Book Sale starting at 9 a.m.

Hardcovers, paperbacks, CDs, VHS videocassettes, and and "white elephant" table.

Warren-based artist and musician Angelo Marinosci plays RISD on Saturday at noon. Part of Locally Made’s “One Room" project.

Location is the Contemporary Art Gallery at RISD Museum, downtown Providence. Free with museum admission: $12 adults, $10 for seniors, $3 for kids 5-18.

Saturday afternoon at 1, Warren Soccer Club is the starting point for a Bike Run & Spaghetti Dinner to help Tim Smith cover the expense of a hip replacement surgery in his battle with Avascular necrosis.

Live music with Transmission, auction, and a 50/50 raffle are part of the festivities.

Registration at 1 p.m., run starts at 2. Helmets required for all riders.

Ride is $25, $5 for passengers, which includes dinner; $20 for dinner only.

For a bit quieter of a pursuit, visit Blithewold Mansion on Saturday starting at 4 p.m. for Seeing Well: A Photography Workshop led by Jan Armor.

This is a five-hour, hands-on seminar. Fee is $130 per person, $125 for Blithewold members.

And on Sunday, Roger Williams University hosts the Greybeards at 2 p.m.

They'll cover the music of Handel, Telemann and Bach playing baroque flute, harpsichord, and viola da gamba. Free show.
