Child at Warren Daycare Dies from Infection

The state Department of Health is monitoring a number of children who attended the Children’s Workshop daycare center in Warren after a child at the school died from a bacterial infection.

The health department confirmed Wednesday that the 13-month-old died on Tuesday morning after contracting a meningococcal bacterial infection.

Thirteen children had close contact with the child, the health department said.

Parents have been notified and children are being administered antibiotics as a preventative measure.

Officials were at the daycare on Wednesday to discuss the situation with parents.

Health department officials said there is no threat to other children at the daycare.
