Crews Working To Remove Diesel Fuel From Bay After Boat Sinks

After a boat became partially submerged in Bristol Harbor on Friday, crews are still working on Saturday to remove 30-40 gallons of marine diesel that spilled into the Narragansett Bay.

Federal contractors are working to remove 30-40 gallons of marine diesel that spilled into the Narragansett Bay on Friday after a boat began to sink near the Prudence Island ferry docks.

The Coast Guard, the state Dept. of Environmental Management and the Bristol Harbormaster responded to the Church Street docks at 6:31 a.m. on Friday after a 46-foot vessel was reported partially submerged, reports the Providence Journal.  

The Coast Guard reports that the incident is currently under investigation. No one was aboard the vessel when it submerged.
