White Powder Causes Hazmat Scare At Bristol School Admin Building
The powder was tested at the scene and was ruled not dangerous, police said.
BRISTOL, RI — A letter containing a white, powdery substance was discovered to the Bristol-Warren School Administration building on Wednesday morning, prompting a hazmat investigation. Initial tests showed that the powder was not dangerous, police said.
According to Bristol police, the letter was reported just before 11:30 a.m. An employee told officials that she received the letter at her house several days ago and brought it into the State Street building with her on Wednesday.
Emergency responders followed hazmat protocols, clearing all employees out of the building. The Bristol Fire Department was also called in to assist in the investigation.

The substance was tested at the scene and was determined to be not dangerous, police said. A sample of the powder was sent to the Rhode Island Department of Health for more tests. No injuries or illness were reported.
