The federal American Rescue Plan included a total of $560 million for Rhode Island's 39 cities and towns.

BRiSTOL-WARREN, RI — Coronavirus relief funds are on the way to Rhode Island's cities and towns. On Wednesday, Treasurer Seth Magaziner announced that his office will disburse the money from the federal American Rescue Plan Act by the end of the month.

"With these stimulus funds, Rhode Island has an opportunity to spur a broad-based economic recovery for all Rhode Islanders," Magaziner said. "Rhode Island cities and towns can use this funding for a variety of purposes, including supporting small businesses, helping students make up for learning loss, upgrading infrastructure and improving public health systems."

The legislation included a total of $560 million for Rhode Island's 39 cities and towns. $260 million will be distributed by Magaziner's Office. The money will be issued in several tranches starting June 29.
