Leak Discovered In Bristol County Water Supply
Residents of Bristol, Warren and Barrington will be affected. The current water supply is safe to use.
BRISTOL-WARREN, RI — The Bristol County Water Authority announced earlier this week that a leak has been discovered in the East Bay pipeline, which carries water from the Providence Water Supply Board. At this time, the water quality is safe and residents can continue to use it, and there is not a water restriction in place at this time.
The water authority began to search for a leak on April 10, and has been working with state and local officials to come up with a plan to repair the pipe. Investigators believe the leak is coming from an area 10 to 14 feet below the parking lot at the Port of Providence. The pipe is believed to be costing the water authority 10 percent of its average daily water flow.
Repairs will begin once officials are able to determine where exactly the leak is located. If found, repairs will be able to be made in a short amount of time.

At this time, no water restrictions are in place for Bristol, Warren or Barrington residents. While repairs are underway, the water authority will switch over to a water supply from East Providence. At that time, water restrictions could be put in place. Officials will release more information if and when restrictions are implemented.
The BCWA is assuring residents that the water is safe to drink and use, and the leak is not allowing any contaminants to enter the water supply.
