Marijuana Center Comes to Warren

Patients will not be allowed to smoke on the premises.

East Bay residents who are treated for various ailments with medical marijuana now have a place to turn.

Patrick Rimoshytus withdrew his first plan for a members only medical marijuana ”club” and has instead opened a modified version to help patients learn more medicinal marijuana called Green Cross Rhode Island, eastbayri.com reported.

His first plan received backlash both from residents and the Warren Town Council. After consulting with his attorney, Robert Healey, Rimoshytus changed his business model and got his nonprofit business license was approved by the town.

The new center will be a place for medical professionals can meet and educate patients and caregivers in a safe legal environment. Patients will not be allowed to use the medicinal marijuana on the premises, the plan for which sparked some public opposition to Rimoshytus’ original plan.

The Green Cross Rhode Island will also have classes on cooking with medical marijuana and cultivating the product on their own and is open weekdays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
