Pumpkin Palooza, Growers' Contest Take Over Frerichs Farm Through Oct. 23
Ride a magic pumpkin coach or watch growers put their pumpkins on the scale to find out who's harvested the biggest gourd.
WARREN, RI—With the night of The Great Pumpkin fast approaching, Frerichs Farm on the Kickemuit River is getting ready.
According to Barbara Frerichs, expect a full slate of fun fall events. In fact, the ever-popular Pumpkin Palooza already started and will continue at the Frerichs Farm, 43 Kinnicutt Ave., every weekend through Oct. 23.
Of course, a big crowd is expected to take in the highlight of the season, the Southern New England Giant Pumpkin Growers Pumpkin Weigh Off, and watch the big pumpkins tip the scales.

"We supply the hay and little items to create the body," Frerichs said. Guests "just bring some old clothes, crazy hats or whatever else" to dress up the creation.
Or for the more adventurous, there's a chance to explore an Old West town and "have a grand time panning for farmer's gold, going to jail, hanging your hat in the saloon or robbing the bank."
Parking at the farm costs $5. Admission and most of the events are free or for a nominal charge. For more information, call 401-245-8245 or e-mail her at DBFFarm@aol.com.
