Rep. June Speakman Sworn Into House Wednesday

Representative June Speakman was elected to House District 68 in a special election on March 5.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Newly-elected Representative June Speakman was officially sworn into the House of Representatives Wednesday evening by Attorney General Peter Neronha.

Speakman was elected to the District 68 seat, representing Bristol and Warren, in a special election on March 5. She is a professor of American politics, state and local government and public policy at Roger Williams University. Speakman has previously served as a member of Warren's planning board and was a member of the Barrington Town Council between 2002 and 2016.

The oath of office was administered by Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Neronha, as Secretary of State Nellie Gorbea was out Wednesday on a planned absence.
