What To Know About Feb. 18 Snow In Bristol-Warren

The slow-moving system is expected to arrive in Rhode Island mid-afternoon.

BRISTOL-WARREN, RI — A slow-moving system is moving into southern New England Thursday, bringing several inches of plowable snow to Rhode Island. Parking bans are in place in cities and towns across the state in anticipation of unpleasant snow conditions.

In Bristol, a parking ban will be in place from 7 p.m. Thursday until further notice. During that time, all vehicles must be moved off the streets to driveways, private property of emergency parking lots.

Warren's parking ban will also go into effect at 7 p.m. and last until further notice.


The first flakes are expected to fall in much of the state between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., though earlier snowfall onset is expected along the southern coast. Four to six inches of slow-building accumulation are expected across the state, with the snow expected to continue overnight and throughout the day Friday.

Parking bans have been declared in more than a dozen cities and towns in the state, and several colleges have opted for virtual classes Thursday.

A winter weather advisory is in place statewide from noon Thursday until 7 p.m. Friday.
