Youngster Killed Tuesday Bicycling On Poppasquash Road

BRISTOL, RI — A summer afternoon's bicycle ride ended in sorrow for a youngster and his family. According to Bristol police Chief Josue D. Canario, a car struck a boy around 3:28 p.m. He had been on the East Bay Bike Path and was crossing Poppasquash Road when a car hit him. The youngster was rushed by ambulance to Hasbro Children’s Hospital. He died there.

Police said the accident is still under investigation, but the indications are that the car, a 2007 Ford, was traveling west on Poppasqush Road and struck the boy. The driver, a 21-year-old woman from Canton, Conn., has not been identified. No word yet about charges.
