Asphalt Spill Backs up 95 Traffic for Miles

The right two lanes are blocked in downtown Providence, backing up traffic well into Cranston.

Traffic is back up for miles on Interstate 95 after an asphalt spill on the highway in Providence.

A tractor trailer truck spilled asphalt just after 9:30 a.m., turnto10.com reported. The two right northbound lanes are blocked, and traffic is backed up south beyond the Route 10 exit in Cranston. Rubberneckers on the other side of the highway are creating traffic headaches for drivers heading south as well.

The spill was not hazardous and was cleared up by 11:00pm with traffic was moving smoothly again.
