1 RI Beach Reopened, 4 More Closed For High Bacteria Levels

The beach at Camp Canonicus in Exeter is back open, but several other beaches were closed for high bacteria levels.

Several Rhode Island beaches were closed Friday due to high bacteria levels, and one reopened to swimming.

Earlier this week, the Rhode Island Department of Health recommended closing Camp Canonicus beach in Exeter, as well as the Camp Hoffman and Kingston Camp beach fronts on Kingston's Larkin Pond. Canconicus was reopened Friday, though Larkin Pond remains closed.

Also on Friday, the department closed the Kent Count YMCA Lower Pond in Warwick, Ginny B Campground Beach and Dyer Woods Campground Beach in Foster and Hope Community Beach in Scituate, all due to high bacteria levels in the water.
