Celebrate 'Noon Year's Eve' At Providence Children's Museum

Mayor Jorge Elorza and his son Omar will lead the celebration, which will feature a ball drop, parade and cider toast.

PROVIDENCE, RI — The first celebration of the new year will be a little early this year. The Providence Children's Museum will hold a countdown, ball drop and toast at 12 on Tuesday — 12 p.m., that is.

Providence Mayor Jorge Elorza and his son Omar will attend the "Noon Year's Eve" celebration, ringing in the new year with those who will be asleep at midnight. Elorza and Omar will lead a celebratory parade through the museum with noisemakers and good cheer ahead of the 11:59 countdown and ball drop, followed by a cider toast at noon.

At 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., Rhythm Room will hold interactive performances, and attendees cn also visit the museum's new "Feeling Real or Really Feeling" exhibit that explores the multi-sensory experience of synesthesia.
