Construction Planned For Cranston, Providence Water Mains

About 17.5 miles of water mains will be worked on from late March through November.

CRANSTON, RI — Spring has arrived, and with it comes the return of construction season in Rhode Island. Providence Water has plans to work on water mains in six areas of Cranston and Providence in the coming months.

Customers can expect some traffic and service disruptions while construction is underway in their neighborhood. The company will provide more detailed information to residents about specific schedules.

From late March to November, the company plans to work on about 93,000 linear feet of water mains, or about 17.5 miles. The construction is planned for Washington Park, Upper South Providence, the Charles Street area, the Blackstone Boulevard area and Mount Pleasant Avenue in Providence, as well as the Auburn area of Cranston.

Permanent restoration will begin around Blackstone Boulevard in Providence, and the Edgewood and Auburn sections of Cranston.
