Cranston Library Receives $10,000 Virtual Reality Grant
A Virtual Reality lab will be open to the public at the Cranston library later this year.

CRANSTON, RI — The Cranston Public Library announced Tuesday that it will be introducing a virtual reality lab thanks to a $10,000 grant from the Office of Library and Information Services. The "V Lab" will feature virtual and augmented reality equipment that patrons of all ages will have the chance to experience.
"We are excited about receiving this grant which will allow us to to bring virtual reality technology to Cranston," said Director Edward Garcia. "We will be holding programs throughout the summer in different locations across the city to give people the opportunity to experience this new technology."
Five public programs will be held to allow patrons to experience the equipment, which will include Google Expedition Kits and other virtual reality technology. Dates and more specific information about the events will be announced in the next few months.

The $10,000 grant is part of the Library of Rhode Island grant program through the Office of Library and Information Services, which provides grants from $5,000 to $50,000. OLIS is the library agency for the state.
