Cranston Parks & Recreation Department Announces Pool To Open

The Parks and Recreation Department is accepting registrations for summer programs and swimming lessons.

CRANSTON, RI — The City of Cranston Parks and Recreation Department announces the Budlong Pool will open on June 26. Pool hours will be noon to 6 p.m. seven days a week. Seasonal Pool Passes can be bought at the pool house beginning June 19 from 12 noon to 4 p.m. and during regular pool hours starting June 26.

SWIM LESSON REGISTRATION

Registration for Budlong Pool swim lessons will be accepted at the Parks and Recreation Department office from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. from May 10 – June 20.

Swim lessons will be held Monday/Friday and Wednesday/Saturday from July 3—August 4. Classes are in the morning prior to the pool opening and will be offered for Beginners age 3-5, Intermediate age 6 and older and Advanced lessons age 6 and older. Space is limited to 10 participants per class.

SUMMER PLAYGROUND PROGRAM

The Summer Playground Program will commence June 26 and run for eight consecutive weeks, ending on August 18. Parents can register their children for the entire eight-week program, select individual weeks, or choose eight of the same days. Campers will meet each morning at 4 playground sites throughout the city and participate in activities in and out of Cranston.

The Tennis Program will take place Monday thru Friday at the Cranston High School West tennis courts from June 26 – August 4. Instruction is provided for all levels of playing ability, from beginners to more advanced players for ages 6 to 18.

The Arts and Crafts Program runs Monday thru Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Hope Highlands Middle School from June 26 – August 4. Boys and girls, ages 6-12, will work on a new craft project to bring home by the end of each day.

Living Arts Theater Program will run August July 31 – August 4 from 9:00 a.m. – 2:45 p.m. at Hope Highlands Middle School Auditorium, with a full performance at the end of the week. The program is open to boys and girls in Grades 3 to 12. This unique theater program teaches students the fundamentals of the theater in a safe, fun, and friendly environment. The show for the summer is Jungle Book.

British Soccer Camp is offered in cooperation with Challenger Sports for ages 4-14 at the fields behind Hope Highland Elementary from June 26 - 30.
