PROVIDENCE, RI — CVS is doubling down its efforts to get the public vaccinated. Starting June 1, the company will hold sweepstakes with a slate of great prizes to anyone who gets — or has gotten — their shot from the company.

The Rhode Island-based pharmacy giant plans to give away more than 1,000 prizes over six weeks through the #OneStepCloser sweepstakes. Anyone who has received their COVID-19 vaccine at CVS or plans to is eligible to enter the contest.

"We're grateful for the millions of people who’ve received one of the well over 17 million doses we’ve administered at CVS Health, but we have a long way to go," said Dr. Kyu Rhee, a chief medical officer of CVS Health. "Getting as much of the population fully vaccinated will bring us one step closer to all the things we’ve missed during the past 14 months, and keep our country moving in the right direction."

The company said the sweepstakes aims to close the gaps in vaccine hesitancy, as well as remind the public of the fun things everyone can do as the pandemic wanes and more Americans get their COVID-19 vaccine. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 17.6 percent of adults are hesitant to get a shot.
