WARWICK, RI — Delta Air Lines is back at T.F. Green Airport. Starting Wednesday, the company will offer daily, nonstop service between Rhode Island and Atlanta, Georgia. The company suspended the Providence-Atlanta route at the start of the coronavirus pandemic in 2020, when air travel was basically nonexistent.

Flights will be offered on the following schedule:

PVD to ATL

Delta will also start offering service to Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota, a route not offered by the company since 2015. The Minnesota airport is Delta's third-largest hub, and will offer "a convenient way for passengers in Rhode Island, nearby Connecticut and Massachusetts to reach Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa and other destinations throughout the West and Mid-West," Rhode Island airport officials said in a statement. These flights will be offered starting May 28.

"With PVD now featuring direct service to two of Delta Air Lines largest gateways, travelers to and from southern New England will have an increased selection of connecting options from the Southeast to West Coast and throughout the United States during the upcoming summer travel season, along with Delta’s international destinations as available," the statement continued.

With the coronavirus pandemic still an ever-present concern, T.F. Green is taking steps to keep passengers and airline employees safe. The airport is offering travelers free "PVD Cares Kits," which include a face covering, hand sanitizer and sanitizing wipes, and is following a strict schedule for sanitizing high-touch surfaces. In January, the airport acquired a touch-free UV light capable of sanitizing surfaces such as baggage carousels and vending machines.
