PROVIDENCE, RI — With commuter rail service suspended to the South Attleboro train station until further notice, Rhode Islanders still have options via the state's public transit authority.

According to the MBTA, the South Attleboro station is closed until further notice "due to concerns about deteriorating structural conditions on the pedestrian overpass." The station was the first stop over the Massachusetts border on the Providence/Stoughton line, which connects Rhode Island to Boston.

The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority reminded residents that it's still possible to get to South Attleboro via bus routes that connect to Providence Station. Passengers who used to take Route 1 and 35 to South Attleboro station can now use these routs to head southbound into Providence, where they can transfer to another line at Kennedy Plaza or walk the short distance to the train station. Buses are run from Kennedy Plaza to the train station from Stop G on Routes 3, 4, 51, 54, 58, 62 and 72.
