Shake Shack describes itself as "a modern day "roadside" burger stand known for its delicious burgers, chicken, hot dogs, frozen custard, beer, wine and more." Along with the usual menu offerings, Rhode Island's location will feature local items including "Chocolate Thayer Cake" and "Pie Oh My" concretes, which is the restaurant's signature frozen custard dessert, swirled with different fillings. Five percent of the proceeds from the "Pie Oh My" will go towards the Thayer Street District Management Authority’s Public Art Fund.
The restaurant's design includes a custom mural designed by Rhode Island School of Design alumna Jing Wei, as well as environmentally-friendly elements such as counters made from reclaimed bowling alley lanes, chairs made form sustainable materials, and booths made from lumber certified by the Forest Stewardship Council. The first 100 people in line for the grand opening will receive free tote bags and notebooks featuring Wei's designs.
