For The First Time In Weeks, Rhode Island Gas Prices Rise
Attacks on Saudi Arabian oil facilities caused price increases across the country, including in Southern New England.
Rhode Islanders are seeing the effects of recent attacks on Saudi Arabian oil facilities. After weeks of plummeting prices at the pump, the average cost per gallon went up in the past week.
The attacks caused price increases across the country. Here in the northeast, the impacts weren't as much as other parts of the country. In Rhode Island, the average price per gallon went up just two cents per gallon, while the national average spiked 10 cents.
The average cost per gallon in the state is now $2.51, 15 cents lower than the national average of $2.66. Despite the modest increase, the average price is still 31 cents lower than the same time last year.

"The good news is we are seeing downward movement with crude oil prices and stabilization at gas pumps, but Americans can expect some fluctuation through the end of the month," said Lloyd Albert, AAA Northeast's senior vice president of public and government affairs. "Should Saudi's crude production be back to full capacity shortly, the price spikes are likely to be temporary."
Across the state prices range 34 cents from a low of $2.38 to a high of $2.72. Here's a look at the average cost and range, by grade.
