Free Caregiver Support Through New AmeriCorps Program, Partners in Care
Partners in Care is looking for volunteers and Caregiving families to connect with this supportive effort

Providence, RI, February 2, 2017– Caregivers of veterans report more than twice the emotional stress of caregivers of adults otherwise, almost three times the level of physical strain, and almost four times the level of financial hardship. Partners in Care can help!
Jewish Family Service of Rhode Island is launching the Legacy Corps funded program, Partners in Care. Partners in Care is a volunteer driven caregiver support program. It is designed in response to the critical need of providing caregiver respite services for families, with veteran or military history, living in the community. The program strives to decrease caregiver burden and stress, and increase the potential of the caregiver sustaining loved ones at home. Similar Legacy Corps programs currently operate in 16 sites across ten states. JFS is proud to offer this supportive program to caregiving families in Rhode Island.
Partners in Care is currently seeking volunteers and caregiving families to connect through this supportive effort. Volunteers provide approximately 10 hours per week of caregiver respite through participation in recreational activities, companionship, transportation to medical appointments and errands, and friendly visits. Volunteers will commit to providing consistent and experienced caregiver support. In exchange for their commitment to serve, Partners in Care volunteers receive comprehensive, on-going training; a monthly stipend; and the opportunity for an education award at the end of their year of servic
