Gina, Roger Williams Park Camel, Has Died: Zoo Confirms Sad News
Gina was born in 1995, came to the zoo a year later and lived there for 19 years.

PROVIDENCE, RI—Children of all ages who went on Marco Polo's Adventure Trek will remember Gina, the camel, at the Roger Williams Park Zoo. The zoo said today the beloved camel has died.
"It is with great sadness that Roger Williams Park Zoo announces the passing of Gina, one of the dromedary camels, seen by visitors on Marco Polo’s Adventure trek," the zoo said Monday. She had been a resident since May 22, 1996, when she was about one year old.
"She was a favorite with guests, and dearly loved by staff and volunteers alike. She shared a home with her long-time friend Sasha, and together they represented a species of camel native to northern Africa and southwestern Asia," the zoo said.
