Girl, 7, Dies In Providence Fire: Police

PROVIDENCE, RI — Providence police identified the 7-year-old victim of a Providence house fire Tuesday afternoon. Ashley Sandoval was rushed to Hasbro Children's Hospital, where she later died.

The fire happened around 1:30 p.m. at the Lucy Street house where Sandoval lived with her family. Several adult relatives and an underage cousin were able to escape the house.

Sandoval's 2-year-old sister was also rushed to the hospital, where she is in the intensive care unit.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation at this time.
