The Goats Are Coming To Cranston's Central Library

The 'Herd of Hope' will groom the brush along the upper parking lot on July 18 around midday and again on July 19.

CRANSTON, RI — The goats from Laurel Hill MicroFarm's Herd of Hope have landed a job at the Central Library. They're going to groom the upper parking lot by eating the brush around it. About 30 goats are expected to show up on July 18 around the middle of the day and start munching.

“We were looking for an effective way of controlling plant growth on the land surrounding our parking lot,” explained Library Director, Edward Garcia. “Goatscaping was a fun and affordable option and we hope library visitors will enjoy the chance to watch these farm animals in action!”

The herd will be at the Central Library beginning mid-day on July 18-July 19, he said. Visitors can stop by or keep an eye out for social media posts and livestreams using #CPLGoatCam.
