Inmate Attacked Corrections Officer on Wednesday
The inmate was charged Thursday, state police said.

CRANSTON, RI—An inmate at the state prison attacked a corrections officer, according to state police. The incident allegedly happened Wednesday at 7:45 a.m. in the intake center. J.R. Ventura, chief of the Information & Public Relations Office, referred questions to state police. A joint investigation is underway, but state police are the lead agency.
Darren Frappier, 22, formerly of Blackstone, Mass., was charged with felony assault on a Correctional Officer. He also was charged with a misdemeanor for Disorderly Conduct. He was in court to face a judge.
The officer was treated at Kent County Hospital. Patch asked the union for comment, but calls were not returned.
