Lane, Ramp Closures Coming To Airport Connector For Repaving
Once work is complete, the long-term lane closures on the bridge will be removed.

WARWICK, RI — Drivers should expect some changes on the airport connector in the coming weeks. Starting Wednesday, lane and ramp closures will be in place for repaving.
More closures will come Oct. 8. At least one lane will be open in each direction throughout the constrution, though detours will be in place at times for on- and off-ramps to Post Road.
The repaving will be between the Jefferson Boulevard and Post Road exits, following repairs to the Collingwood Railroad Bridge. One lane has been closed in each direction on the bridge since Aug. 2019.

The Post Road exit will be closed from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., and the on-ramp from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. After work is complete at 3 p.m., the long-term lane restrictions will be removed, allowing for two lanes of traffic in each direction again over the bridge.

The construction is part of the $10.1 million Statewide Bridge Repairs Contract 4 project, the Rhode Island Department of Transportation said. It includes concrete repairs, bridge joint repairs and other improvements to three bridges in Warwick and another in North Kingstown. All the bridges carry traffic over the Amtrak's Northeast Corridor.
