Obituary: Eugene Rebello, 48
Eugene Rebello, 48, of Warwick and previously Cranston, R.I., passed away on Friday, April 8, 2016 after a 2 year battle with brain cancer.

Rebello, Eugene M. Jr., 48, of Warwick and previously Cranston, R.I., passed away on Friday, April 8, 2016 after a 2 year battle with brain cancer.
He leaves behind his mother, Nancy (Saccoccia) Downie, his stepfather John Downie, and his step grandmother Ellen Downie. He leaves his remarkable "sister"-in-law, Jannette (Benoit) Rebello, with whom he shared a very special bond and friendship for many years. He also leaves behind the Benoit Family, Richard, Sandy, Michael, and Heidi who always treated him like one of their own. Gene was preceded in death by his father, Eugene M. Rebello Sr., his paternal grandparents, Manual and Martha (Grover) Rebello, his maternal grandparents Flore and Virginia (Frasier) Saccoccia. Gene was also sadly preceded in death by his very special brother, Jon P. Rebello. He never got over this loss.
Gene loved his previous huskie dogs Layla, Sylvia, and Sara as well as Maya, his current devoted chocolate lab companion. Gene was a carpenter by trade, a lover of music, poetry, often writing his own. He was an avid sports fan and went against the local norm by loyally supporting the St. Louis Cardinals, the Cleveland Browns, and the NY Rangers. He leaves many friends at the Laurel Hill Social Club.

His family would like to thank the R.I. Cancer Center where he started this journey and very special thanks to Kent County Hospital where a twist of fate landed him there to be treated and ultimately receive hospice care to end his journey. Their commitment, kindness and compassion will never be forgotten by his family.
His funeral is TUESDAY at 9:45 a.m. From "WOODLAWN" Funeral Home 600 Pontiac Avenue, Cranston followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. In St. Mary's Church, Cranston. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITATION Monday 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to VNA of Care New England 51 Health Lane, Warwick, RI 02886.
