PROVIDENCE, RI — Broadway smash-hit Hamilton dropped on Disney+ July 3, reigniting interest in the show. While the thought of live theater may seem distant amid the coronavirus pandemic, Rhode Islanders will once again have the chance to experience hip-hop history next year.

Hamilton first came to the Providence Performing Arts Center in August 2019, taking the Ocean State by storm. To meet the high ticket demand, the theater implemented a system of lines — both in-person and online — that gave hopefuls a chance to buy tickets without overloading the system.

Following the success of the first run, PPAC announced that Hamilton would be returning for an encore engagement. On Thursday, theater officials announced the dates: Nov. 30 to Dec. 12, 2021. Current season pass holders for the Taco/White Family Foundation Broadway series will have the first chance to renew their tickets for the 2021-22 series, which includes the show. More information about tickets has not yet been announced.

PPAC will remain closed until at least January to ensure that it can reopen safely, the theater's CEO announced in May. Several shows, including Dear Evan Hansen and Jesus Christ Superstar, have been rescheduled to next year.
